71B Corridor Plan

The section of state highway 71B in Fayetteville is an important artery through the core of our City. The through-traffic of Northwest Arkansas now travels along I-49, which allows us to rethink the corridor’s future with the goal of creating a safe travel for vehicles, transit, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Through this plan, you, along with other interested people, can help develop a vision and implementation program for the future of this important community roadway, which includes

  • N. College Avenue from North Street to northern city limits near Lake Fayetteville
  • Archibald Yell Boulevard and S. School Avenue from Rock Street to Cato Springs Road.

71B Corridor Plan LogoThe planning process for the development of this corridor offers opportunities to enhance our economic vitality, expand our tax base, increase housing supply and choices, improve transportation options, create a more walkable city, and develop a more attractive community corridor.

A goal of the process is to develop a shared vision for the corridor that unites businesses and property owners and identifies practical action steps. This vision will consider such important issues as land use, zoning, transportation, design, visual character, public spaces, and infrastructure. Community input is essential in creating that vision.
